VENICE TO VIENNA AND SLOVENIA IN BETWEEN  (ITALY-SLOVENIA-AUSTRIA) (9 DAYS)

DAY 01: VENICE
Arrival to Venice. Meet & greet followed by a transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay.

DAY 02: VENICE-PORTOROZ
We'll start the day with beautiful Venice. We will stroll the narrow lanes, cross over bridges and observe at gondoliers as your guide gives a detailed and intriguing account of the history of the city. You will learn about Casanova’s and Marco Polo’s roles in the history of Venice. You can discover the secrets of the city and see its most famous and significant buildings. You can stand in front of St. Mark’s cathedral, and hide from the pigeons on the Square; pass by the Bridge of Sighs, connecting the prisons in the Doge’s Palace and admire the paintings of the great Venetian masters, such as Titian and Tintoretto. In the afternoon we will depart towards Slovenia and stop at one of the most famous old Christian sites in Aquilea. Overnight stay on the Slovenian coast.

DAY 03: PORTOROZ-PIRAN-HRASTOVLJE-LJUBLJANA
You can walk around the beautiful promenade in Portoroz and head to one of the coastal gems, Piran. The main square is named after Giuseppe Tartini, a famous violinist and a composer who was born in Piran. On the hill above the square you can see the signature Church of Saint George, who is also the patron saint of the town. The small town is still partially surrounded by a typically Venetian wall, which used to serve as protection of this marine and salt trade hub in the Bay of Piran. We will stop at the National salt park Soline, to see how salt is produced in very natural manner. The next stop will be in Hrastovlje, so we can admire the famous Dance of Death in the Church of the Holy Trinity. The next stop is the Slovene capital Ljubljana. It has won the European Green Capital Award in 2016. Overnight stay in hotel.

DAY 04: LJUBLJANA
Start the city tour that consists of a walk around the old city centre and a tourist train ride up the castle hill. After an ascent to outlook tower at Ljubljana Castle with a beautiful panoramic view of the city, we descend the hill on foot to the old city centre. We'll pass the Town Hall and continue through the historical city centre, well known for its unique architectural beauty, which is the result of the Baroque and Art Nouveau periods and, most notably, the work of the famous 20th century architect Joze Plecnik. Why not end the tour with a boat ride on the Ljubljanica river? Free time in the afternoon. Overnight stay.

DAY 05: LJUBLJANA-KARST REGION-LIPICA-LJUBLJANA
Discover the Slovene coast and the Karst region. The first stop is the visit of medieval Predjama castle with its dramatic setting in the gaping mouth of a mountain. The tour continues to Skocjan caves, one of the largest and most beautiful Karst sights which is also enlisted as UNESCO world heritage site. Then we will head on to Lipica, the homeland of the white Lipizzaner, where we will see a show with “dancing” horses and find out how the stud farm operates. We finish the tour in one of typical Karst wine cellars with wine and the famous Karst prosciutto tasting. Overnight.

DAY 06: LJUBLJANA-ALPINE FAIRYTALE
The Alpine region lies between the Julian Alps and the Karavanke high peaks. . We'll make our first stop at Bled, the magnificent alpine village with a mountain lake and a tiny island in the middle, and admire the amazing view from the old castle up on the cliff. A challenge for your eyes and your body awaits you on the island where a temple of the Slavic goddess of love Ziva used to stand. A glorious gothic church takes its place nowadays. To reach the ancient glory on the island we recommend you to take a special boat called »pletna«. We will continue to the breathtaking beauty of Bled’s Vintgar gorge, where we'll take a short walk through the national park… to Bohinj, where we'll stop by the glacial alpine lake in the Triglav National Park. After tasting some exquisite sour milk we'll head onto Skofja Loka, have a walk around this medieval town, situated under a castle and the monastery, and visit the famous gingerbread museum. Return to Ljubljana. Overnight stay.


DAY 07: LJUBLJANA-MARIBOR- PTUJ AND WINE REGION
From Ljubljana we will travel to Maribor, the second biggest town in Slovenia which was named the European Capital of culture in 2012. Maribor is surrounded by wine-growing hills on all sides. Its historic town centre carries a distinct Austrian influence, and we will admire the lively and colourful squares – Castle square, Slomsek square with the cathedral, Main Square, franciscan church, the old sinagogue and of course Lent, the old river port. The oldest vine in the world still grows in front of the Old Vine house. The confirmed age of this “Zametovka” or “Modra Kavcina” vine is over 400 years, which won it a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest noble vine in the world still bearing grapes. We wil take a tour to Jeruzalem, a picturesque village known for its stunning scenery and one of the most beautiful wine roads in Europe. The Jeruzalem Wine Road is famous for wide myriad of excellent wines. Wine tasting in that part of Slovenia is an absolute must. We will finally arrive to Ptuj, one of the most beautiful towns in Slovenia. Ptuj is the oldest town in the coutry with a history dating back all the way to the roman period, and has many monuments to prove it. It is built on the top of huge wine cellars on the banks of the river Drava. Situated by the river, Ptuj was an important stop on the prehistoric Baltic – Mediterranean amber trading route. The view from the castle above the city is simply breathtaking. Return to Maribor. Overnight stay.


DAY 08: MARIBOR-VIENNA
We will cross the border again and drive to beatiful Austrian capital, Vienna. Wedged between Eastern and Western Europe, the cosmopolitan capital of Austria is a paradise for lovers of art and history. The seat of the imperial Habsburg dynasty, Vienna is full of imperial palaces and other monumental buildings, often surrounded by glorious parks. The ghosts of Freud, Mozart and Maria Theresia still roam the maze of narrow streets and remind you of the city’s glorious past. The museums and art galleries will boggle your mind, but you can relax in the Prater, one of the most famous amusements parks in the world.  You can see the famous palace of Schönbrunn, Hofburg and a beautiful neo-classical city centre… Overnight stay in a hotel.

DAY 09: VIENNA
Free time in the morning. Transfer to the airport/End of services.
